Any sort of digital release? How exactly does one play a computer game that has not had any sort of digital release? Are you expecting to scan your game's binary files and assets from microfilm? Maybe your actually just looking for some TTRPG? There were some VHS games once upon a time, maybe that's what you're after?

No need to be pedantic. By digital release, I meant buying a copy for direct download off the internet, like you do with Steam or GOG. Many games prior to 2006 only ever had physical releases and were never sold in digital stores
so all games like 2005 and earlier. I dunno the year but yeah.
A significant number of games released before 2005 had digital releases later. It's basically GOGs whole thing.
If only GOG was not so problematic with its restorations. A game designed for X era not running on an X era machine because GOG decided to fiddle around with it and break its compatibility on the system. My Windows 7 machine was not very happy with GOG. More power to them for keeping old games alive and DRM-free, but that was a nightmare dealing with.
Yeah I guess they have limited resources, and their aim is to have the older games work on modern PCs. Not sure when you were doing this but I can absolutely understand that Windows 7 compatibility isn't a focus for them in 2026 since MS support ended in 2023.
The vast majority, yeah, but not necessarily all.
