General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

He then goes on blame other people in his party thinking it washes his hand clean. He uses the security card again. He then claims people are out to get him and his party.

He always makes out that he's the victim and this, I think, resonates with those fools who vote for Reform. They all feel victim to something and want to take revenge.

"I don't listen during important meetings" isn't the defence you think it is, Five Mil Froggie.

He's flailing like crazy now, it's almost embarrassing how pathetic his excuses are getting.

"He can't be arsed to work, he's just like me! I am so voting for him as PM!!"

Sadly, this sort of idiocy wins votes. Farage's whole political career has been about avoiding doing any work, claiming excessive expense repayments, and pretending that it's a political position.

Oh I know. My abusive ex was a fan of Froggie. People like Frogface are attractive to people with a lot of hate in their hearts. Sadly this includes people with trauma who end up listening to hatemongers like him instead of working on the trauma that makes them so angry.

Well it's a good thing someone recorded the meeting for him, now he can rewatch it and see what he agreed to.

It's like when Google shows you the terms of service again. Great a chance to read them. /S

At the moment they are in firefighting mode. They need to retain their core base, so any excuse no matter how ridiculous will give their followers something to clutch at.

And believe you me--they'll take anything

“Believe you me” is so funny to read as a English phrase

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Absolutely it sounds nonsense.

It’s perfectly grammatical, but it’s one of the few commands where the subject isn’t elided. The others that occur to me are “hear ye, hear ye,” and “look on my works, ye mighty, and despair,”from Ozymandias, both of which are definitely very old fashioned sounding.

Sounds like prime minister material. The job has only a few boring meetings and paperwork to get through.

This the same rally looking event where the octogenarians beat the crap out of some lady while dragging her by her hair, as Farage chanted, "boring, boring."?

And jenrick dismissed the woman being beaten over the head with an " oh, boo hoo".

The party of protecting "our wimmin and gurlz", everyone! 👏🏽👏🏽
