The damage Trump’s second term is doing to trans representation in media will long outlast his time in office.

~~What did Ace Ventura do that warrants it being in the headline?~~

Or I could read the article.

When it comes to mainstream content, we only have to go back to the late ’90s to find Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, where the whole plot hinges on a horrific man-in-a-dress “joke” (one example of oh, so many)

@DosDude@retrolemmy.com another e.g.
I am not so sure why piefed is even ommiting @lemmy.nz comments, but I couldn't see @BasedMaquisEddington@lemmy.dbzer0.com’s reply to both bookmark and uprank.

I think this might be federation. You are likely the first subscriber to the community.

I tried to mitigate that as much as I could by having a federation bot. But maybe I need to expand on it.

Yeah. Unsure what pylova is doing correctly unlike piefed. Might be an issue to bring up.

I do enjoy sometimes manually fetching comments the recursor hasn't gotten around to fetching.

Did it for the guilty gear strive 🧲.

Were you subscribed to the community before the comments were created? Comments only federate across when there's a subscription to pull them in. And the subscriptions don't pull comments retroactively, so it'll only work for future comments.

nay subscribed to eithers. In Pylova it populates comments if it just finds them, recursively.

But I see the technicality that occurred here.

Missed opportunity to cite The Crying Game (1992) in that article.

The trans scene in that movie melted peoples minds back then. So much so it was rehashed as a plot twist in Ace Ventura (1994) just a few years later.
