Letting politicians accept private funding is arguably worse, as it beholds them to private interests.
A community for discussing events around the World
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I’ve taken no public money
Letting politicians accept private funding is arguably worse, as it beholds them to private interests.
He knows this. The phrase is deliberate misdirection.
What’s funny is that politicians job would be to get salary from public money to represent public will.
So that’s an admission of willing to say whatever for money from whoever, hence why this bastard loves Russia and Israel among other things.
So the joke candidate lost and Count Binface won, exactly as predicted.

I've heard Count Binface is saying there was confusion at the polls. Voters could not tell the candidates apart as both are filled with garbage.
And here's the thing that a lot of short minded people missed.
Count Binface was never going to win, but that was never the point. If you seriously thought that. Then you need to get your head checked.
The entire point, was to make a farce out of Farage's grandstanding.
That's why no major party ran, the probe would happen anyway.
And guess what, it worked.
Count Binface was everywhere going into this election and everywhere coming out of it.
Binface won.
Binface got a quarter of the votes, no? That's not nothing.
A quarter of the votes and the vast majority of the coverage.
International media covered the election. Not because of Farage and his politics. But because a man with a bin for a face is running.
Binface stole the spotlight from Farage's stunt.
Farage also faced criticism for failing to turn up to the Clacton count in Essex, saying he had been told by police of an organised attempt at disruption
Maybe the could have snuck him in a catering truck.
Put him in a pot of slowly boiling water. That frog-faced fucker would have thought he was in a jacuzzi.
Unfortunately, this whole thing sounds like another Trumpian story where everyone goes "it's all over for him now" and he just keeps chugging along.
The guy was being investigated for corruption so dropped his seat and triggered this circus. And they voted for him again.
Same as trump. He mismanaged the pandemic to the tune of about 800.000 excess deaths, plus all the other crimes, and he won even bigger the second time. Despite what echo chambers on lemmy tell us, people out the really support these clowns.
Yes, they like the ideas. Those ideas feel right to them. And consequences of those ideas, because most don't work in practice, get blamed on the implementation, ideally blamed on some scape goat. Then they'll vote for the next one promising those ideas.
Trickle down economics. Aaaany day now...
There actually was not a real chance. As said all other candidates stepped down. By winning he just hands himself back in for investigation and if or when found guilty teller he will have to step down. It’s better than martyring him.
The Brits are famous for self-loathing.
