I began training with an IGR (International Gay Rugby) team in my local area to prepare for my first Devils bootcamp.

Kind of weird they just didn't go gender neutral instead of "international gay rugby"...

Rugby's always been ridiculously inclusive, I'd be shocked if there was a 100% straight rugby team anywhere. And coed games at tournaments or mixed practices in college was/is the norm just for the numbers.

There's a few positions where size is important, but I've seen more women than I can count steamroll a dude 30-40lbs lighter on a rugby pitch.

An adult coed league would be huge, and considering under-12's are already coed, it wouldn't even be that big of a change. If anything it would just make it weirder it's split up for HS/college/Olympics.

I'm honestly surprised there isn't one already.

But if anyone is LGBTQ and wants to join a LGBTQ rugby team but can't find one, just join any rugby team, it's gonna be pretty gay already and no one is going to complain about it getting a little gayer.

Edit:

Coincidentally, it's been less than 6 months since a woman tackled me on a rugby pitch, and I'm a huge dude. Technique matters a lot more than raw strength, it's not like football where you just hit someone as hard as possible and call it a day.
