What are this guy’s current chances of winning in the general election? And in comparison, what would you estimate (since we’ll never know) a more moderate Democrat’s odds of winning that same general election?

I’m trying to check Kissmi/pooeymkat (misspelled on purpose), but haven’t had much luck finding the odds so far.

Socialism is still a terrifying word for conservatives and most independents. Nominating socialists as Democratic candidates makes me feel more certain that Dems will fail to retake control of this country.

The mainstreams of both parties are open to socialist ideas presented by their own members. Obviously, only the Dems are consistently willing to entertain thoughtful socialist ideas (in smallish doses). But NONE of that can happen if we nominate far left socialists who crush primaries only to get eviscerated in the general elections.

This guy is apparently the first black candidate who is a member of the DSA who is going to be elected to the state House (and yes, he is going to be elected: in the 58^th^ district, the token Republican has absolutely zero chance). He is, however, far from the first leftist/socialist rep from that or other nearby districts.

The main news here is that DSA as an organization is becoming more popular, such that leftist candidates are willing to be affiliated with the label "democratic socialist" instead of calling themselves "progressive" or whatever.

It's incredible how many people think socialism = communism. U can have capitalism and socialism together, and just not let the capitalism run unchecked the way it has in the USA for the last 50 ish years which is what fucks us. Strong socialism with a sprinkle of capitalism is imo the perfect solution, but unfortunately I think most hear socialism and think their old soviet's trying to make a comeback. A lot of people fail to realize how socialist the USA used to be and how far we have gotten away from it as money moved into politics. Crazy how the "red scare" is having a second wave now, the elites must be scared.

It's easy, look how brown this guy us and vote something else. These turds are way past making decisions based on platforms that might actually benefit them even when up against platforms that will clearly hurt them. The backbone (if you want to call it that) of the GOP is capitalizing on latent American racism.

If there's ever doubt, the answer is nearly always the option where it's an American assuming everyone else is American
