For the bees! And their buzzy little bums.

Bumblebees and honeybees alike go gaga for artichoke flowers. They really have to dig in there to get to the nectar, but given how many other wildflowers are currently blooming in my yard right now that don't require spelunking that the bees could be feeding from instead, the artichokes must be producing some really premium nectar to be worth the extra trouble!

That's truly a massive flower. I've eaten plenty of artichokes, but seeing one in bloom with something for scale is impressive.

It might actually be a small flower by artichoke standards; I was hoping to eat it but it was too small to bother with so I let it bloom.
