Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

I want to read this, but it said "slammed" so... I guess I won't then.

Click-bait.

Seriously. Internet news and media is just such a ridiculously stupid shitshow.

You're not missing much. Moron is wrong yet again.

The usage of "slammed" in headlines has "rocketed".

I decided that's on me, for not blocking OP who constantly offers up such content that I don't want to see. Fortunately that's easy to rectify. (Unfortunately it throws out some good content as well but... c'est la vie.)

Conservatives think they can pick and choose science like they do their garbage religion

Can people please stop linking to the NYT like it is a credible source?

It seems the orange pedo chimp attacks anything that holds truth, morality, legality or scientific validity.

Those are four defining points of facism.

For a guy who had COVID so bad he needed a team of scientists and doctors, he's got a strange way of showing gratitude.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

Those doctors and scientists don't pay bribes. The fossil fuels industry does

there is no debate about this. you guys just make stuff up based on what you want. it has no basis in reality. ugh I hate this.
