For the future of societies' sanity, an ai purge is so needed. My parents were watching an ai generated mini documentary (the script was clearly ai gen), and it was so god awful
Tired of seeing so many "x for sleep", "sleepy history", "things your grandparents did", and similar content generated by AI, inherently useless, falsified, and meaningless.
Funny how google wants to sell slop but isn't so happy when they are on the other end.
It's all about power/control and the incentives of each platform. There's incentive to serve you slop when searching. In a traditional web search, when you click on a link, you leave Google's site and its accompanying ads. An AI slop summary keeps you on the page. But on YouTube, everything is and remains entirely in Google's ecosystem. They get the same ad revenue from you watching a human-made video as a slop one. In fact, you'll probably be more likely to leave the platform if you get exposed to a lot of AI slop content. That's probably exactly what is driving this. They probably have internal numbers showing that slop decreases engagement. With search, this decreased engagement is cancelled out by the value of keeping people on the site. But with YouTube, people are staying on the site regardless.
I think they just want to get rid of ai later so they can introduce a new tier and they can charge you to use their ai models. Only google ai will be allowed on their platform.

Good news for individual creators.
That's good news for me. Individual creators and small studios are where the good stuff is at. The videos full of originality and different takes.
But a HUGE red flag to larger creator studios, podcast networks, kids media companies, localization operations and anyone that runs multiple channels from a single production stack.
Doesn't really matter if it's AI generated or not, if it looks like it might be because it's "dime-a-dozen I've seen it hundred times before," just get rid of it.
Yeah, even before AI content farms were a thing and churning out the worst quality garbage to get outrage and ad revenue. Hire a bunch of people to write sensationalist videos at a massive rate, and pump out several a day. Now they use chatgpt to do the writing and some ai voiceover and images to save cost there.
Good riddance if any of these are destroyed.
Honestly, even news podcasts do this. The meidas network is exhausting making a huge deal out of everything. As if THIS is the thing that'll bring trump down. But they post 3+ videos a day of rage bait and even I'm like dude, calm down, this is a nothingburger.
If your content is being mistaken for slop, because it uses the same over saturation and low effort push for videos, good riddance. Finally youtube doing something right for once in its existence

They do all the time. Hell, that guy running for office in Texas, can't remember his name has a very popular gun show on YouTube and has often said fascist/racist remarks. I've seen a lot of survival videos with a hue of fascism to them, even if they try to hide it.
Right. Google is the wallet.
But they also take Republican candidates money for ads as well.

I'm so tired of youtube anyway. I had five ads in a thirty minute video the other day. They forced me to switch to the tab and click skip to continue since they wouldn't continue without my interaction. That is slop in and of itself.

I don't mind when someone uses AI to make those little cartoon drawings in the corner to show like frustrated faces and emotions or whatever, as long as the video and sound are legit. For example call me Kevin, gameranx or be amazed. Using AI to enhance a video with a doodle is fine to me but I don't want the sound and/or video to have any AI at all.
