Does anyone have a favorite place to learn about Bay Area food production history? Cargill, C&H, Ghirardelli, Rice-a-Roni, Sourdough, Campbell’s, etc.?

I don't, you just have to have been around to know it.

To add:

Mother's Cookies, Sunshine Biscuits, Shasta soft drinks, the fruit orchards in the South bay that were shipped through Alviso (Apple Computer was named for historical reasons, anyone?), Del Monte, Cannery Row in Monterey, It’s Its, Mission style burritos, the Martini, chop suey
