Attacks on three locations across Iran came after three tankers in the strait of Hormuz were targeted on Tuesday

The US military carried out strikes on Iran for a second day, hours after Donald Trump said that an interim agreement to end the war was “over”.

Late on Wednesday Iranian state media reported explosions in the port city of Bandar Abbas in the strait of Hormuz; in Sirik, another southern coastal city; and the south-western Bushehr province, home to Iran’s nuclear-power-plant complex.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: “This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombing of ships by Iran. If it happens again, it will get much worse!”

This fucking idiot couldn't even make a deal to trade lunches with a child... Not even with a Lunchables and a kool-aid squeeze versus warm tuna.

First the war was over.

Now the agreement is over.

Important daily updates from Trump on what is or is not over.

I am so over Trump, as is most of humanity.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 14 points 6 hours ago

The neat thing is China is over Trump and now Iran is too while Ukraine is as well.

Republicans wanted chaos and that is what they are going to get. Gas prices and egg prices be damned.

I can’t see how anyone can negotiate with this man when he seems to go back on his agreements in less than a week.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 2 points 53 minutes ago

A week? He broke the first fucking part of the MOU less than a day later threatening Iran over something.

The US never intended to keep its end of the deal anyway and never did. Its not really a surprise to find American aggression continues.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Israel would never have allowed it

Did we pay them the 300 billion dollars before this happened? Is this a 'war' now and not a 'conflict'? jfc

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 5 points 5 hours ago

No, the 300b was promised but not yet delivered. The US did remove sanctions on Iranian oil though so they will have made a buck on that + whatever "fees" they managed to extract from ships wanting to transit.

I'll b et the GOP is really happy that Trump is going to spike gas prices just before the midterms.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 16 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

They have plans for winning the midterms even if the people don't vote for them.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 12 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

otoh, they had a plan on January 6, and another plan to beat Iran, and one to win the game against Belgium...

[–] TachyonTele_Esq@piefed.social 7 points 3 hours ago

You throw enough shit at the wall and some it will stick.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

That's why we gotta make it too big to rig.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

And the rest of the world said "No shit Sherlock. We knew from the outset this was folly."

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 8 points 5 hours ago

The initial announcement was made to coincide with his big dumb brawl on the front lawn. He wanted to announce a peace plan, and got a Memorandum of Understanding, which is basically an agreement to start talking. I'm not even sure that Iran had agreed to anything at all. The entire thing was destined to fail from the beginning.

But it served its purpose. He got a rationalization to have his big celebration (so he wasn't just having a big party during a war), and it eased gas prices a little for a minute, but we always knew we'd be back here.

Lasted longer than I thought it would.
