This meme, but with the scouring of the shire

Eh it would have been great, but as Jackson said, it feels like a 2nd climax after the death of Sauron.

It could be another movie. Probably will be eventually.

Could have been an interesting way to do Amazon's series instead of just shitting over the silmarillion. Fill in the lives and occurences after lotr. Woul'dnt need Saruman or Wormtongue as the extended trilogy deals with them and they're not strictly needed for the scouring.

Amazon got IP for simarillion not lotr.

You mean trilogy.

I think having the elves come to help men was the biggest disrespect to Tolkien.

Sometimes I wonder what Tolkein would think about memes like these

So, uh ... anybody got the complete version of this drawing, without the most important part missing? Asking ... for a friend.

Unfortunately it looks like this is the origin of the photo, which does not include the rest of the horse: https://www.reddit.com/r/lotrmemes/comments/oxcplj/master_of_wood/

That's the oldest post I could find containing this version of the photo, which makes me think it's the original.

Dong Bombadill

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 days ago

Glamdring should have glowed white in the presence of orcs.

Removing that PoS character from the movies was the single best thing Jackson did. Tom Bombadil is the fucking worst, I hate every single page that contains that obnoxious character.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 38 points 5 days ago (1 children)

While I wouldn't use such harsh words, removing Tom Bombadil was the most obvious decision in any adaptation of anything ever.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 14 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, leaving him in would have had general audiences focused too much on why he didn't get involved.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yeah! Don't want the plebs looking into the justifications for not eschewing the wizard drama for simply hanging out at the river with your hot AF, insatiable wife, ya know? 🤷🏼‍♂️

He should have smoked pipe weed with the eagles.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 27 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

He is representative of concepts that are very important to Tolkien's setting and themes, though. I think it is also intentional that he has an unlikeable tone or doesn't quite fit in, in a weird way. It adds to his mystique.

Annotating a horse cock with his name is an insult to horse cocks

Nah, he's the best! He's just a merry fellow :3
