A third major theme emerging from the comments centered on fairness and the devaluation of specialized skills. Mid-career professionals, including carpenters, security officers, and first responders, expressed deep frustration over the narrow pay gaps the policy would create.

This is an obvious case of sowing class division.
Workers aren’t so easily deceived.

Those occupations should also see an increase in wages alongside it. That's the whole point. It may not be exactly 1:1 as you get further away from the floor, but if your skill is that much more valuable, it would maintain it's value to employers to keep you around

"Give me a raise or I'll go flip burgers instead since I'll make just about the same as now" would seem like a fairly reasonable thing to say to a boss in this situation imo
