Unpopular opinion, maybe, but I like it this way. I recognize the two would-bes enough from their bit of news, but I don't care to know more. We talk about not glorifying mass shooters, and I also think, even if their target is a shitty wannabe dictator, we shouldn't give any glorifying attention to assassins. The key promise of democracy is the peaceful transition of power, not that it won't suck ass sometimes. If these people had succeeded, that would've escalated the current climate to something we can't step away from, and some parts of the world seem hopelessly and endlessly stuck in that status.
What I'm trying to say is they weren't just attacking one evil person; they were attacking peaceful society, and losing the peace can be worse and more permanent than anything the one evil guy does, especially since we still largely believe that there shall be another election on schedule and that people can vote in a way that shall be counted and shall matter.
I mostly agree, but this ear shooting is complete wwe fake wrestling bullshit. I have zero doubt trump would have people killed to avoid prison.

I find the psychology of these people fascinating. I agree that glorifying them isn't great, but understanding what makes them tick could provide useful information. For example, what makes a kid raised in a conservative family decide to take a shot at a conservative president? What nerve got struck, what article did this kid read that led him down that path? Can we use that to back-map a path to unfuck people who watch Fox News exclusively?

I don't believe that, and if we're talking about the "shall matter" part I don't know that I ever have.
They are rigging the votes as we watch. The second best time to fracture this unjust "peace" was 400 odd years ago, but the second best time is today.
