So..."from the river to the sea", then? Netanyahu apparently can't stop using antisemitic slogans. Hmmm.

[–] defaultusername@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"From the river to the sea" is the official Likud slogan.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

Ironic that the Israli PM is now using it then

I have zero doubt Israel would gladly genocide every Palestinian, if they could get away with it

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 58 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The west still pretend that iarael want a solution

[–] Mantzy81@aussie.zone 58 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They do. A final solution, some might say.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How the chambers have turned.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

the ABUSED became the abusers, so they became nazis themselves.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Pretend is a good word for it. Seems obvious to anyone paying attention that Israel has zero appetite for peace

The citizens, who tend to be more moderate than their government, are particularly rabid about continuing to bomb Lebanon

[–] zwerg@feddit.org 43 points 1 week ago

Ah, yes, the Lebensraum argument.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 week ago

Well, trade places with them. Then you can live within the ruins you created and they can build a state not in the contested territory.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 week ago

No room for Israel on this planet.

[–] Bread@thelemmy.club 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He must think they have this all wrapped up if he's not talking about defense anymore. He's sure the world will just let them genocide all their neighbors with US weapons.

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Evidence so far is that he's 100% correct. He just needs US troops to take the hits from Iran and he can continue his ethnic cleansing in peace.

[–] Bread@thelemmy.club 8 points 1 week ago

That's the whole cause of the current problem. Boomers were supposed to be hyped to send a million kids to die because Iran. It didn't happen like 2002 and the neocon play book only has one idea.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago

us troops have taking hits for israel for the past 20+ years, ME conflicts were likely instigated by israel.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Shit is about to catch up with Israel. There a reason the aggressive, authoritarian tactics don't last - it's not because it's unethical or evil, it's just bad too.

[–] Bread@thelemmy.club 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It won't. There's never any justice.

[–] Snowies@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Justice is a game that people who can’t turn off their empathy play.

The world is owned and controlled by billionaires who can simply just turn off their empathy… assuming they had any to begin with…

I personally think we need to do heavy research into DNA markers for sociopathy and psychopathy, and eugenics those disorders out of existence.

That’s the real “final solution”.

[–] Upgrayedd1776@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

pretty sure Iran will be more interested in vengence than justice having killed the President's father, wife and children during peace negotiations

[–] Snowies@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Wouldn’t you?

[–] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There's no justice, just us.

no room left on this planet for the likes of Netanyahu et al

[–] NM_Gringo@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

In the meantime, maybe you could stop relying on US taxpayer money to pay your bills. Go get a job.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes. Now the public knows Netanyahu's a gutless babykilling cunt.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We've known for ages and no one gave a shit.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Hundreds of millions of people give a shit, vocally. We are being silenced and thrown in jail for it all over the world.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

msm largely ignored israels expansion in the ME for 20+ years, it was only inflamed prior to bidens election year.

Of course. Israel wants the Land between the River and the Sea for itself.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Note: this is not hate speech in Germany and other jurisdictions.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not your decision to make, asshole.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 1 week ago

Unfortuntly it is because the whole world is allowing it to genocide palestinians

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 12 points 1 week ago

There was room.

Babe wake up, new From the River to the Sea just dropped

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 10 points 1 week ago

Well, now that, that has been acknowledged by him, are we to assume that Israel are going to give them (back) enough land so that there is enough room for a Palestinian state?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Sounds like a straight up lebensbraum reference.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

No room for Israel on this planet, fucker.

[–] gtrcoi@programming.dev 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does anyone have an article that isn't trash clickbait? I've only found 2 articles talking about this with neither containing a full quote or any sourcing aside from a mention that the quote originates from Al Jazeera on the 29th, but I can't find anything about it on their website.

[–] MagnificentSteiner@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There's no article that I can find but there is a short video on Al Jazeera English's youtube...

[–] gtrcoi@programming.dev 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Man trying to find the full speech is impossible. You'd think the country accused of controlling the media would make speeches by it's government easily accessible.

Anyway, it's not surprising Netanyahu said this tbh, he's always had this position. That guy fucking sucks. I'm not sure if he wins this next election because the polls make it look like it's going to be a complete mess, but I'm pretty sure however it ends it's going to be basically how he described it with no chance of Palestinian statehood.

EDIT: I found it https://youtu.be/StF-7tNX1qM

The English speeches are for the rest of the world. The Hebrew speeches are for domestic Israelis.

[–] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He's correct. The Israelis have worked for decades to ensure that an independent Palestinian state is not a possibility. And they have accomplished that goal.

People outside Israel really need to let go of the fantasy of the two state solution. Trying to make a unified nation out of the handful of ethnic enclaves the Palestinians occupy would be like trying to make one viable independent nation out of all the US's Indian reservations. That will never be possible, and the reason is that it was deliberately designed to make it impossible.

The two state solution is thoroughly dead and buried. There are only three futures for Palestinians at this point:

  1. Slavery (Apartheid.)

  2. Ethnic cleansing/genocide.

  3. South Africa-style national reconciliation.

The rest of the world needs to move on from the two state solution. We should be demanding complete and equal Israeli citizenship for every Palestinian.

100 years from now, there will only be one nation in Palestine. Maybe that will be called "Israel." Maybe it will be renamed something else as a reunified state. But there will not be a Palestinian-only state. It's time to let go of that dream. At this point, seriously discussing the two-state solution just enables Zionism.

[–] Lucius_Sweet@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Israelis hate this solution more than any other as they know that if there was one state, they would be outnumbered and outvoted by the Palestinians. This is why Israeli rhetoric towards the Palestinians "breeding like rats" is so vile, they know they are outnumbered and another reason they are so eager to carry out their frequent mass killings or their more recent genocide.

Israel will resist this move as much as any of the others. Israel was created by the UN as a settler colony for European Jews nearly 80 years ago. There has been nothing but bloodshed ever since, it's time to admit the Israel experiment was a failure. I will never understand why the Jews of Europe were not given a piece of Germany for their new state instead of a piece of Palestine that these Jews had no social or cultural connection to.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Israel was created by the UN

That makes it sound like it was the UN's idea. Israel was planned by Zionists, then rubber-stamped by the UN after an extended terrorist campaign against Palestinians, British mandate officials and the UN.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

John Kerry of all people warned of this in 2016:

here is a fundamental reality: if the choice is one state, Israel can either be Jewish or democratic – it cannot be both – and it won’t ever really be at peace

Israelis have made the choice, election after election for the last 2-3 decades to elect governments that expanded the settlements, derailed the figleaf of Oslo and destroyed the practicality of a Palestinian state. The choice for One State has been made and implemented. So now they are faced with Kerry's stark dilemma: Jewish or democratic.

People's response to this reality falls I think into one of four positions:

  1. Accept that Palestinians should be destroyed as a people in their historic homeland.
  2. Pretend that the two state solution is still viable.
  3. Imagine some kind of apocalyptic establishment of a Palestinian-only state with the expulsion of the Israeli Jews.
  4. Fight for a South Africa-style binational reconciliation on the basis of equal rights and democracy.

Option 3 sounds "anticolonial" and "revolutionary" but it is delusional as it ignores the facts on the ground. It is also unjust. Just like any other settler-colonial state from Canada, to Brazil, to the US, to Australia, there is no reset button that can be pressed to undo history. We have to live with the legacy of settler colonialism. There are Israeli jewish babies being born today that are third, fourth or fifth generation "sabras". You can play the pseudofanonist edgelord and imagine some kind of Pied-noir style "the suitcase or the coffin" expulsion, but even the Pieds-noirs were only about 1 million and 10% of Algeria's population, as opposed to about 7 million and 50% of the population of the land of historic Palestine. Those people aren't going anywhere. The 7 million Palestinians are also not going anywhere unless the Israelis are allowed to complete the genocide.

The only path forward that is not (further) genocide or slavery is the extremely difficult path to decolonization. Reparations, truth and reconciliation, democracy, human rights for both communities. From the goddamn river to the goddamn sea.

They need some Lebensraum für die Tausendjahr Reich

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

God sure stirred up some shit when he started giving land away to specific groups of people. I guess Netanyahu is just one more of the monsters created by God.
