After a rash of lawsuits from Free Towners, an influx of sex offenders, an increase of crime, problems with bold local bears, and the first murders in the town's history, the Libertarian project ended in 2016.

Ah classic.

Also the article suggests the bears were there due to the trash people left, but we all know they are naturally anticapitalist.

There's a book about it called 'A Libertarian Walks into a Bear', written by Matthew Hongoltz-Hetling. It's a great read, although I did find myself asking "WTF is wrong with these people?" fairly regularly.

What's really embarrassing about this is how they just scrub this from their history as if it never happened. They made a bold move that didn't work out and instead of learning from it so they can do better next time or even trying to educate others on what went wrong, they just remove it from their history books.
