Al-Gayda

It’s how gay that algae is that makes it extra evil

[–] IEatDaFeesh@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

First the frogs now the algae 😞

[–] stray@pawb.social 3 points 4 days ago

He wasn't kidding about the swamp.

[–] username_1@discuss.tchncs.de 26 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Import emus who will eat algae and then nuke the White House to get rid of emus. Problem solved!

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

That!

It was just a matter of crowdsourcing it a bit, until somebody came out with a more practical solution than aluminum sulfate.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 4 points 5 days ago

The emus seem a bit redundant

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Whoever does those signs through Orinda is always on fire and they’re always so consistently topical.

[–] pbjelly@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Hah! I knew I recognized that pedestrian bridge!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

i was gonna say, i thought i saw them putting this one up over the weekend. i was disappointed i only got to see "HE CAN'T EVEN WI" but i knew it was going to be a banger

[–] Quantenteilchen@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Do these kinds of signs usually get put up all at once by a person/a small team or do they have to do that over multiple nights since it's technically not allowed?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

What I've seen: when it's cups in chain link it seems to be a team, when it's a sign like this it might be a team or it might be just one or two people. But like, it's really not hard or time consuming to zip tie some tarps onto a chain link fence. And if you get them in order beforehand, it should go damn smooth. Have someone down the road parked who can call you if you put up a letter out of order and you really should only need two people

It was like, 5pm or something idk I was tired from the beach when I drove by though. They were actively putting it up

Now that you've made me think through the logistics though, and I know where all the flucks are in town...

Admin! Right here, admin!! I found another one of them flagella grabbers. And he seems proud of it too 🤮

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

ADMIN! I feel unsafe in this pool with that flagellite! All grabbing flagella and talking about it.

What you do in your own houseboat with your own algae, i don't care. Just don't wave it around in public and don't expect me to solemnize any kind of marriage to it.

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Baby Jesus was crystal clear as mountain lake water about this! It's a SIN! Even in your room, Jesus WILL be WATCHING and JUDGING ✝️

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

yeah baby jesus is kinda freaky about flagella. don't know what happened to that kid.

His dad could be a real asshole sometimes

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 3 points 5 days ago

Someone might have grabbed his flagellas. You hear that all the time!

Careful or he will nuke the algae

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 9 points 5 days ago (2 children)

That... That could actually work though... 😶

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I am not sure if it would or not. You might end up with more algae in a bigger hole.

blue algae entered the chat

:: Now listen here you little sheit!! 😡 (starts shooting)

red tide syndrome entered the chat

:: now shit here you little 🦀

[–] yardy_sardley@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Honestly, throwing money in the pond would probably work. Specifically pennies. Dissolve enough copper and you'll have a vivid blue reflecting pool that also happens to be toxic to algae (and most other life forms).

Pennies are now made of zinc.

To be fair, as someone who's fought algae for years, I can attest that it's fucking hard to do.

But I lost the battle for way less than 300 million dollars.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 13 points 5 days ago (3 children)
[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Is that northbound 101 out of San Luis Obispo?

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 4 points 4 days ago

Its highway 24 eastbound looking at the overpass of El Curtola Blvd. You can see Mt Diablo in the background.

37°53'52.0"N 122°05'10.8"W

If you look at the google street view it has a different message (you have to get close): "Dear Iran hes in Florida Love CA". They are there a lot.

Algae survived the biggest disasters the planet ever has seen. Don't underestimate algae. It will be your death.

[–] skittle07crusher@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Allow me to introduce algae to 2026 and… Nazi trillioniares

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

Be my guest 👍

It was those witches again. They cursed the national Mall to remain green until the unredacted Epstein files are released and the child rapists finally face justice.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

[–] Steve@startrek.website 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)
