Saidu, whose job is to empty sceptic tanks, is believed to have been selling the faeces to farmers to use as fertiliser - a common practice in the region, but which is rarely publicly acknowledged.

I've always heard this is how E. coli spreads on produce

Unfortunately i've had previous experiences in the Balkans when my parents used to buy homegrown produce from Gypsies and they knew what they were using for water and fertilizer (they never used the toilet in the house).

That was almost 30 years ago and now when i think about that i want to smack them so hard that they lose a few teeth, disgusting.
