I wonder how much Musks defunding/dismantling/disarray of science, space and environmental agencies hurt the need for his big rockets?

Exactly, science is dead in the US, Musk and Trump killed it.

SpaceX would be doing much better in an administration that didn't carpet bomb the space program along with almost every other form of subsidized scientific research.

As it stands people are starting to die in large numbers from the collapse of the US healthcare system from project 2025, Trump, Musk and others, the whole fuss about putting rockets far into space is going to be forgotten here pretty damn fast in favor of conversations that center more closely around individual survival.
