This is a Lemmy Community for perchance.org, a platform for sharing and creating random text generators.
Feel free to ask for help, share your generators, and start friendly discussions at your leisure :)
This community is mainly for discussions between those who are building generators. For discussions about using generators, especially the popular AI ones, the community-led Casual Perchance forum is likely a more appropriate venue.

- You can ask for help with prompting at the 'sister' community Casual Perchance, which is for more casual discussions.
- We will still be helping/answering questions about the plugins as long as it is related to building generators with them.

It appears to have been up only temporarily, it seems to be back offline for me.
If you have this problem find a vpn provider with vpn servers in either the usa or if you are in the usa then connect to florida. Since i connected to either miami or tampa i have had it working flawlessly
our dev needs to take it slow for a bit and focus on certain type of generators instead doing them all copy and paste style. I go for the image generators and prompts.
Perchance is switching servers and forgot to tell us here but remembered Reddit.
When will it be up again?
I... don't know. People at the comments section said that maybe tomorrow it will work. The story gen has some sudden up times, but it works slowly.
does anyone have an update?
Not right now
I've been using this generator for the past year, it does this but not super common. The last time it did this it was down for only a few days. just give it some time. come back in a day and test a response every few hours. I believe this happens when they are fixing stuff, messing with code, or probably fixing the website. but even if none of these are the case, I still like to think that it is. gives a happy positive while I wait for the bot to activate again. I'm just glad this doesn't happen everyday.

yes. just give it a day at most. patience and it will be back. this is from my experience. :)
Will it stop crashing when I import? I may have panic deleted everything... Thanks though 🙂
It's free unlimited and good. I guess it will be fixed in a day or two
It would seem that many perchance generators are down at the moment, from personal experience. Neither the character chat or image generators are working for the time being.
maybe it has to do with the server migration from a few days ago?
That's quite possible. The only other time it seemed this way was during the migration. Could be the cause of a few things still needing time to settle down. Seeing it's not a frequent problem in general with Perchance, whenever things are unresponsive like this, it's hard to complain. Plus it's free. It'll probably be fine in a few hours. If not, simply by tomorrow I'm sure.
Do the devs have a status page or something where they post about server outages and the like?

The chat and roleplay has been completely down for me too. So sad because i use it for trope and scene ideas and story ideas for my own personal writing! This has only happened a few times before since i started using it. It should hopefully be back up tonight or tmrw from what i've seen in the past. It's never been this long before for me tho. It's been out since about 9am EST for me
Is it just me or is it only for specific devices? It works fine on a computer but not on my phone.
It has not worked on either the computer or the phone for 24 hours! We are waiting! I hope this gets fixed!
