Always loved it ... one of the most powerful beings in the Star Trek universe ... is a black man.

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags.
Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'
~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

My head Cannon is that Q figures out when Sisko punches him that Sisko is part Prophet and plays it off as a bit instead of having the only other nontemporal entities in the region mad at him.
yeah, he figures out he doesn't want to get war crimed when sisko goes prophet

I mean, Q's following line was something like "You're right, you're much easier to manipulate" and it took smile right off Sisko's face.
"Indeed not. You're much easier to provoke. How fortunate for me."
He then fucked off and never returned to DS9.

This is great, haha
Since Q is omniscient and likely has the ability to see forward in time, I assume he wanted to get punched in that scene for some reason.
I can’t remember all the context though.
My head canon is because of The Sisko's mother having been possessed by with a non corporal wormhole alien at the time of her pregnancy The Sisko was able to punch Q.
Q did not see it coming, and wouldn't have been able to stop it if he'd tried. Q wasn't acting being knocked to the ground. In realising The Sisko was more than he appeared Q was genuinely worried, and that's why he never bothered DS9 again.
oh gods we were teenagers do you have any idea the wormhole alien jokes we made
Q is pretty far from omniscient.
I meant omnipotent. Get those mixed up sometimes.
I like to think Q and the Emissary are still having boxing matches. Rope-a-dope is a real challenge when you exist non-temporally.
You mogged me! Picard never mogged me!

thank you for the idea
Q isn't confined by the passage of time as humans are.
Q is an energy being occupying a higher plane of existence (note: this does not require morality and I'm not sure why anyone thinks "higher plane* requires someone to be morally good)
Q was punched because Q allowed himself to be punched. Any other Q would certainly not take that kind of thing from a bug. When bugs bite, they get swatted, unless you want the bug alive.
Sisko may think he's tough for standing up to Q and not indulging shenanigans. Sisko is tough for many reason, but not this one.
Sisko is lucky Q is fascinated by humanity so much or he would be shrunk to the size of a Proton and tossed into a neutron star to be squished for all time.
yeah Q as we see him is more like a matter puppet created by Q so we can interact with him more easily
