Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Yep still going kill us all including the billionaires in their bunkers. Just wish I could live to see them get consequences from their actions.

Like we rise up and hang this mass murdering bastards. Then we could try migate much damage as possible.

Unfortunately we are past stopping it phase.

There are deposits of coal, oil, and gas still in the ground. There are forests yet standing. So long as those are true, it's possible to decide to leave them there.

That's all it takes to stop temperatures from going up more.

It's very much physically possible; doing so is purely a matter of making sure those in power decide to.

And those in power wilk never do no such thing. So unless as a collective rise up and end the billionaires and their bought politicians we are fucked.

Because they will continue to rape this world and speed up our planets ability to keep us alive faster. Just look at what Trump alone is doing to the US.

Turning back clock on refrigerants, keeping coal plants running. And the rape of our natural parks. Add to the AI data centers that will take all our drinking water. We are pretty screwed.

Future human decisions are not predetermined. Be part of the organizing to create the change we need

Lotta people are gonna be real unhappy with this winter weather. The places that get milder winters when they usually get deep freezers will get their crops ruined next year from plagues of insects that didn't get culled with an ordinary winter freeze off, and the places that get unprecedented precipitation are gonna struggle with their own issues immediately.

Sigh... That's fine, I'll be dead in a couple of decades anyway I guess.
