That's still almost 10hrs train ride one way. Assuming an express train from NYC to Portland.
That's a perfectly reasonable time for that distance.
While I wish Amtrak was more prevalent in the US, being able to take a train across the country is great!
Here's the rail map if you ever consider using it:
Interesting, SD(whatever that is) is the only state without rail. What are they doing there?
