I wonder of these two will ever meet and become friends

I can't believe how difficult it is for these people to accept the fact that they lost. Union should've gone Khwarazmian on them.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

that flag should be replaced with whoever put it up there.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

Blitch made them his bitch.

The fact he walked three hours being notable enough to make the headline is possibly the most American thing I've ever seen

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 105 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm reasonably sure that's a 3 hour long drive. America is big.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 59 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Ahh sorry, to me a trek means a walk

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago

Make sure to avoid any star treks then

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Words don't have meaning anymore

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Three hours wouldn't even get you outside Atlanta on foot.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 51 points 1 week ago (4 children)

America is so car centric they're eliminating walking from the vocabulary

[–] Chronographs@lemmy.zip 36 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Star Trek but it’s just guys walking through space

It's a fair point.

My city's about to get a new baseball stadium, and people are actually whining that they might have to park their car somewhere other than the stadium and walk.

And, mind you, we have a five-mile long, free passenger train that will take them right to the stadium. It's not gonna be hard to get there.

If you're not from this part of the region there's 2 things you should know. The traffic corridor it's on has really high traffic as it's one of the primary ways between major metropolitan areas in the region and that flag is fucking HUGE. It's basically impossible to miss, it's genuinely one of the largest flags I've ever seen in my life. So to call it a prominent feature is an understatement and it absolutely should be taken down

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 1 points 6 days ago

I’m originally from Florida and went to grad school in Northern Virginia. Whenever I’d drive to see family I’d see this shit. And that was nearly 20 years ago!

[–] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

It was actually recently taken down, I'm local and heard the reason was something to do with it never actually having been properly permitted to be on the land it was on or something.

Edit: Zoning and not obtaining proper permission for it to be that tall were the reasons it was removed. https://www.wccbcharlotte.com/2026/02/14/judge-orders-removal-of-confederate-flag-along-i-85/

It's been really nice to drive through that area and not spend the next 30 minutes fuming and plotting to shoot gallium-filled paint balls at the aluminum pole it was on.

I have never destroyed someone else's property.

I have absolutely fantasized about how I could pull off a flaming arrow, covert flagpole sabatoge, spray paint over cameras or signage, and similar for places that are so overly racist or evil.

I don't think I'll ever do it, since I'm more lawful neutral than chaotic good, but I value the people who are.

As a municipal planner, I love the solution. We get warm fuzzies when we can use our talent for bureaucracy to do something good. It helps make up for the politicians trying to get us to bend rules for developers.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

whoopsie poopsie.

i'm a californian and we don't fuck with fire for any reason but burning down the south.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Maybe we should, so dry brush doesn't accumulate to the point of uncontrollable wildfires.

That's not fucking with fire , that's burning shit for responsible and fun reasons. Come out to Burns Down Every July Hill and Burn It Down this July, see what I'm taking about

I mean, I'd have just lit it on fire, but to each their own I suppose

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Easier to light on fire if you pull it down first I guess?

James Blitch, huh?

We should start using the word "blitch" to mean a person who will go far out of their way to do the right thing.
