Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

There are no real anarchist anymore.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

Criminalizing the opposition is literally the first page in the fascism handbook.

Secular does not mean what most of these assholes think it means, by the way. Way too many act like it's a synonym for "atheist".

Just because a person or an org has not chosen to wear their chosen lifestyle on their sleeve does not make it the equivalent atheist.

Most of life is "secular", FFS.

What the conservatives do the English language is as infuriating as so many other things they do. Often it starts with their perversion of terms and phrases.

well put.

Carlin said: By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.

They know what it means, they are leaving room for violent christian political groups. They have already declared violent Islamic organizations as evil so by saying "secular" they literally mean any group that does not declare themselves as christian.

Sounds unconstitutional. He's promising to persecute people for their protected first amendment activities.

Thanks to the supreme court it doesn't matter though, as nationwide injunctions are forbidden.

Was that Jill Stein vote worth it?

[–] tar@lemmy.zip 1 points 29 minutes ago

I think the real question is whether Hilary should have given that money to back him in 2016

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

So start a religion that is aggressively pro-trans? Even better if you appear to be Christian?

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 8 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The Episcopal Church welcomes you.

We're not perfect, but we're trying; we have openly Queer (including trans clergy) and have re-written our canon on marriage to include same-sex marriage. I'm a priest in this church. Never imagined that the Trans flag that is hanging on my wall in my office (given to me by a fellow demonstrator at a No Kings protest last year) would possibly land me in jail some day.

But seriously, at this point it is the duty of any Christian, if they truly believe in Jesus, to stand with Trans folks and proclaim anti-fascism. Because this is where Jesus would be standing.

[–] Paranoidfactoid@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I was raised episcopal as a kid. Episcopalian on my mom's side, Catholic on my dad's. This was in the 1970s and early 80s. I remember our church would invite this particular female pastor to give a guest sermon on a regular basis. And in that era it was radical for a woman to be a minister.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

once had a friend describe Episcopalians as: A lot like Catholics, but with logic and sense instead of dogma and rapists.

Get ready for the updated Ai powered House Un-American Committee. Now with more fascism!

Brought to you by Palantir.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 9 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Oh no! Radical pro-transgenders want to trans their genders, please save me from the genders transing

Question: Where are the victims of these secular political groups and radical transgenders? To compare them to 9-11 mass murderers seems kinda wonky to me. Drug cartels also don't seem as bad, somebody has to get me drugs.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 8 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

In truth? The "victims" they are protecting, are the proud boys, the 3 % ers, patriot front, etc. They are targeting the groups that have fought back against their aspiring paramilitaries they want to use to target opponents and critics.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 113 points 1 day ago (3 children)

So, does this mean Trump is officially declaring the US a fascist state?

[–] Embargo@lemmy.zip 40 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm comfortable reading it like this.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I wouldn’t say I’m comfortable, exactly. I agree it is the proper reading-between-the-lines, and it’s very awkward. Actually, down right terrifying.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

well... time to respond accordingly I guess

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yep. Any time now, would be great.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

We need to be doing everything legally possible right now to get him the fuck out. That's what I'll say.

[–] FluidBeef@quokk.au 0 points 16 hours ago

They’re going to rise up for sure after the mid-terms are stolen, and then after the next general is stolen, and then…

He already did that a while ago. NSPM-7 is nothing new, neither is repeatedly ignoring court orders, trying to overthrow the 2020 election, or personally enriching himself to the tune of billions of dollars using the power of the government he runs.

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 97 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Tyrants don't come to power by mandating submission. They come to power by criminalizing dissent.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same shit, different nomenclature.

Fuck that fascist

The same people who say "Nazis were socialists, it's in the name!" Will go on to say "Antifa is a terrorist racist group!"

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 43 points 1 day ago

Authoritarianism is an admission of abject weakness.

White supremacists are the weakest and most brittle snowflakes.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 24 points 1 day ago

Im right here ... try me.

The US sucks ass right now, we need to tax the billionaires back down to millionaires. We need to get money out of politics and punish the corrupt. If it cant be done through legal channels then do it with guillotines.

Also ...something something what about the Epstein files?

[–] Ariselas@piefed.ca 42 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Well I guess the only response it to become a Satanist, pto-LGBTQ2+, anarchist

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

You weren't already?

I low key actually am. And I'm armed

I believe there have been plenty of right wing attacks that are not accounted for, because they were done by the federal government.
