Autumn is by far my favorite time to camp. Summers are ok if you have lots of trees for shade. Camping in a pine forest is amazing because a layer of pine straw adds so much cushion to the ground (but not great for the rain fly as sap drips on it).

I've never done a true winter camp, the coldest I've camped in is -5 C / 23 F and that was just the low temp overnight.

Late spring would be my second choice for camping after the ground has defrosted and it's not so muddy.

Thanks for the great insight! I actually haven't experienced that "pine straw cushion" myself yet, but now I'm very curious to try it.

It sounds much more comfortable than sleeping on a regular mat!

-5°C is still quite a challenge, so I think you're braver than you realize!

Hope your next autumn trip is amazing.

Any time its not raining, or cold enough that there's snow. generally prefer a lake or ocean nearby but one of my favorite spots we went was near the mexico border in Arizona where it was so quiet I learned I had tinnitus

That's wonderful. The silence near the Arizona border must have been exceptional. It's truly amazing how quiet nature can be, to the point where you can even hear your own voice.

I'd love to experience that feeling of being embraced by the vast natural beauty of Arizona someday.

I also enjoy being by the water, but right now, I'm captivated by the special charm of mountain tranquility.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful memory!

That's awesome!

Here is a photo of our dog at the campground, he wasn't impressed, he's more of a couch potato

A cute and very peaceful engineer!

I also love dogs and live with one.

My husband and I are colleagues who work together at the campsite.

Nice to meet you.!
