Yes, I preloaded my steam wallet yesterday so I could skip the card step. I happened to check the store page 2 minutes early and it was live so I sent it.

[–] Stampela@startrek.website 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Lucky you, I’m stuck trying to get past the “yes, use my wallet credit” screen :(

It was a good plan to preload it yesterday… but plans and reality. You know.

Edit: 31 minutes later, it went in! With a warning about shipping times due to high volume of orders, but it went in.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 6 points 3 days ago

Had the same idea but I still can't order.

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 days ago

That was very smart, I'll keep that in mind for when the next hardware drops.

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 5 points 3 days ago

Gratz!

I had money in my wallet too and got the buy button about 1 minute early, but still got stuck in the "There seems to have been an error" loop until my order went through 32 minutes later.

[–] FlihpFlorp@piefed.zip 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah I check 2 min early just so I could refresh the page right at 10, and I was surprised when I saw the orders were open, after spamming the next button on payment, I was able to get mine in at 10

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I did not know you could do this. I did save my credit card info yesterday, but would have done this if I knew how.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's the Add funds button in your steam wallet. You can add multiple of 5s

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago

Thank you! I have always seen that, but figured it was to use a gift card.

[–] 474D@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago (5 children)

This was bullshit, had it in my cart the minute it became available but it was impossible to checkout on mobile. All my friends on pc bought theirs on easily

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 6 points 3 days ago

I got mine in via Firefox on Android, but it definitely took some persistence.

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 5 points 3 days ago

If it makes you feel better, I was on desktop (web) (and mobile and when I was getting desperate deck, lol) and my order didn't go through until xx:31. I think it really was just random.

[–] Lippy@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago

That was my situation too initially. I first tried while using my Steam Deck and it kept running into errors during checkout. So I yeeted myself to my main desktop where it went through without a hitch.

Mobile always seems less stable than desktop when making purchases.

It was probably easier to spam continue in PC vs mobile. It wasn’t until I got good at hitting continue before it scrolled I got through.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 days ago

I tired buying on PC but couldn't get it to go through. Started trying on mobile, and that was where I finally got my order in.

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Eyy, finally managed to get one. Right before they went out of stock.

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 6 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Congrats!

I'm wondering if the "ships in 3 to 5 business days" is valid for everyone who got an order in.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nope. Italy here: we had 3-5 days at first, a while ago it changed to 6-10. Not sure if that will change again or if we'll go out of stock before that.

Payment processor can't keep up with the demand.

I was unlucky. Didn't remember the launch until it was too late. Not that it would have mattered since I was in lecture for college, but still would have been nice if I could have ordered one!

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

It’s 2026 and we still don’t have the technology to support server demand surges like this in a way that is appealing to implement.

When I first saw such things happen over 20 years ago, I figured it was always incompetence. Now I know it’s just reality.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 8 points 3 days ago

Nope, it's dead Jim. It doesn't go past entering shipping details

[–] dom@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 days ago

I will be waiting but I wish all you real people who woll use it good luck. And dont buckle to the scalpers in a few weeks: these will come back in stock in due time.

[–] buffaloseven@piefed.ca 6 points 3 days ago

Snagged one with little trouble, but I was early -- checked at XX:57 and the sale had gone live already, and I had put the money for it in my Steam Wallet last week as I wanted as few failure points as possible.

These things don't usually work out for me, so I have plenty of sympathy for those who got hung-up on the ordering page or just came a bit too late. For myself, I'm quite excited and it seems like it could even be here by the end of the week!

"There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 days ago

Mine just went through suddenly.

Store had been working fine for me, but the processing card step of the checkout has been broken for me.

Aaaaaaaand Europe is gone too.

It was actually in stock a few minutes before 10AM pacific, I was able to snag one at 9:58.

[–] jokro@feddit.org 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

To your library? Lol i wish

[–] zo0@programming.dev 9 points 3 days ago

I think you bought the steam controller nft by mistake

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)
[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In the US? Seems to be still in stock in Europe. But I still have a hard time ordering despite preloading my account with enough money.

It's apparently going in and out of stock in waves, so there's still hope

[–] PriorityMotif@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Still have my og steam controller 😎

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago

I gave my OG controller to the two year old next door. He loves pressing all the buttons while we play games

[–] JohnWorks@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

I got one! Needed to spam the checkout buttons but it eventually went through.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Well, anyone who managed to get one, lemme know how the d-pad is on it. Is it better than the OG Steam Deck D-pad or the OLED D-pad? I changed my OLED d-pad to mechanical buttons, and it's felt much more accurate for 2d platformers and fighters.

[–] zewm@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

There are many YouTubers with reviews of this. They say the dpad still uses membrane but feels better than Steamdeck but still has a bit of cardinal slide.

Got on right at 1 and was hammering the pay button to no avail. They're now showing out of stock :(

Super smooth checkout on the mobile app. 5 minutes before the hour

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago

Got my order in!

[–] morgan_423@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

...And the site just updated to Out of Stock. Grats to those of you who managed to get a payment jammed through.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Edit: Out of stock. Fuck my life!

Hitting the Continue like I hit that cunt in you.

No such luck.

Which region are you from? In Italy it's available (although the shipping time went from 3-5 days to 6-10).

Have received "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance." on all attempts, all payment methods. Looks like it'll just be fried for a minute.

[–] yumyumsmuncher@feddit.uk 4 points 3 days ago
[–] SorteKanin@feddit.dk 4 points 3 days ago

I got one, just keep spamming continue, it will eventually go through!

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Here's my confession: I will rarely use it and never sell it. It's my second true collector's item, much like the original. I'm perfectly happy with mouse and keyboard, I just want to own one for the sake of it.

Getting the launch version is the cherry on top.
