Got to let those shipments of underage girls through.

Easier to bring the pedos to Dubai than Dubai to the pedos at this point.

Just in case you needed more proof on whose side the US is on.

"No war but class war"

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not really. Iran are blockading non-Iranian ships. The US is only blockading Iranian-bound ships.

So a priory there was no reason to think that the US would block the Russian ship. And it would be illegal under international law.

It's "a priori", not "a priory"

Very true. I appreciate your pedantry

Then you’ll be grateful to be informed you left off your final period.

I am, but I think you'll find it's a full stop, unless you're suggesting I'm a recently post-menopausal woman.

The multi-deck vessel, named Nord and valued at over $500 million, completed its journey through the commercially vital strait after maintenance in Dubai.
...
“The American side also raised no questions regarding the yacht’s movement, as it did not call at Iranian ports"

There's no story here. The US blockade applies to ships going to/from Iranian ports, not everything passing through the strait.

The multi-deck vessel, named Nord and valued at over $500 million

Still crazy to think drop $500 million on a yacht without a care like it was an Iphone or something.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Blow it up anyway. That yacht was paid for in human misery.

[–] J92@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Impounded and used to fund Ukraine seems like a more pointed use of it. Plus blowing it up just pollutes the ocean.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Well, all right, party-pooper. We were all looking forward to blowing up some billionaire toys.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Absolutely. Just has nothing to do with the blockade and I don't think it's good journalism to pretend otherwise.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's WW3 going on, and this guy knows that he's part of that tiny sliver of humanity that sails above all of that, and he can just cruise right on through, and both sides will kneel for him.

He should have been sunk just for that arrogance alone.

Maybe someone has a spare SeaBaby that can (gently) fall off of a truck and into the water 2000-ish miles from Ukraine for a special adventure.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What about it though? I don't see any indication that it was at an Iranian port but maybe I'm missing something.

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Staring at this trying to figure out where the straight went. Took an embarrassingly long moment to figure out the water is the white bit and not the grey-blue.

Yeah, it's always an adjustment when I haven't looked at MarineTraffic in a while and decide to check in on the boats.

[–] ptu@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wasn’t trying to argue with anything, just bring some context to the discussion lol

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fair enough, didn't know if there was something in particular that had caught your eye in there.

[–] ptu@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

I just find it fashinating that some people’s boats have Wikipedia pages and figured I might as well share it.

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Of course, they're both Putin's obedient servants. They're both working hard to try to get him enough oil money to continue to prop up his war economy.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 days ago

How about removing all sanctions on Iran in exchange of Iran dcutting relation with Russia

[–] zbych@szmer.info 2 points 1 day ago

Hope, that there will be some lost naval drone.

[–] limonfiesta@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Even if this blockade was a legitimate and legally authorized act of war, from a president who wasn't Donald Trump, the USN would still let the Russian flagged civilian vessel through.

They would do the same thing for a Chinese superyacht as well.

[–] Gold_E_Lox@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 2 days ago

but the russians!!!1!!1!

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It didn’t have oil so no worries. Just slaves.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Literal proof that rules don't apply to you after a certain amount of wealth.
