The false flag theory intrigues but also annoys the shit out of me.

Mostly because we are all collectively taking the bait by either go “ViOleNCe shouldn’t hApPeN to AnYbOdy” or by crying it was staged.

The truth is, he is deflecting from the files that still haven’t been released and the fact he’s setting up three carrier strike groups off Iran with potential nuclear armaments.

That’s what I’m tired of. Even all the progressives and neurodivergents and high functioning Lemmy crowds are taken by it.

No one seems to be able to set the “this is watergate and its not going to go away until the president is removed” narrative anymore.

Trump is going to get away with everything and there’s nothing that can be done about that. But at least he’s presiding over the decline of the US, which will cause massive ripples across the world which will ruin or enrich seemingly arbitrary countries and completely tank my retirement accounts.

This is gonna sound gross and I hate thinking about stuff like this but…

The truth of it, or even plausibility of it, is irrelevant. Whether the people claiming it believe it, is irrelevant. What’s important is that it’s compelling and dominates the discourse. It prevents the discussions from being “Murder is bad VS had it coming”. Instead of getting to use the event to justify crackdowns on opposition or painting them selves as victims, they have to waste time denying allegations that they staged it.

Even if it’s not true, even if it’s absurd and conspiratorial, it’s still the right thing to say because it doesn’t let trump’s camp steer the conversation to benefit themselves. I hate it, it’s gross, but, the public conversation shifting in his favor is worse than me feeling a bit uncomfortable about a bad faith argument. I want conversations and discourse to be honest, reflective, and in good faith, but… both sides of a debate need to do that for such a discussion to exist.

Same. The more details I hear, the more annoyed I get that it sounds crazy enough that it might be true.

I mean what is the deal with the assassin giving Kash Patel a free pass? Either Kash wrote that himself, or the assassin is trying a Jodie Foster moment like Raegan's assasination.

Do or do not. There's no "try"
