You know we can load the site and still see Alex's shit up on it, right?

[–] YaDownWitCPP@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Honestly, no reason to change the content as long as it's branded right ¯\(ツ)

Not quite yet. The judge still has to sign off on the licensing scheme, but it sounds like the bankruptcy officer is really pushing for this.

Narrator: as it turned out, it was not...

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

i'll try to be very explicit for the slower ones among us (in the interest of being explicit, that is you): not just any random web. THE WEB THIS DISCUSSION IS ABOUT. cool, huh?

here is handy link for your convenience: https://www.infowars.com/

you can see it is still full of alex jones's shit. and it may have something to do with the fact that the domain was last updated 3 years ago (that means no change of ownership in that timeframe):

so no, onion definitely does not have it. they make think they have some promise of future action, but they thought so when they said the same thing few months ago. it wasn't true then, and it is not true now.

and guess what: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/20/business/infowars-alex-jones-the-onion.html

they have a wish. that wish may or may not be approved by a judge.

On Monday, Mr. Milligan asked Maya Guerra Gamble, a judge in Texas’ Travis County District Court overseeing the disposition of Infowars, to approve that licensing agreement in a court filing. Under the terms, The Onion’s parent company, Global Tetrahedron, would pay $81,000 a month to license Infowars.com and its associated intellectual property — such as its name — for an initial six months, with an option to renew for another six months.

The licensing deal has been agreed to by The Onion and the court-appointed administrator. But it is not effective until Judge Guerra Gamble approves it, and Mr. Jones could appeal any ruling. That means the fate of Infowars remains in limbo until the court rules, probably sometime in the next two weeks. Mr. Jones continues to operate Infowars.com and host its weekday program, “The Alex Jones Show.”

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip -1 points 4 days ago

no, it is not theirs. they have a plan to rent it for 6 months, which may or may not be approved by a judge.
