I believe his name is John Apple now.

Are Tim Apple and John Apple somehow related?

[–] Hozerkiller@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

They are from the Apple clan of Japan, or wherever part of China Apple is from, which has a rich history and leadership of the clan is periodically passed to a successor. This dates back to the fall of the great Steve Apple who was killed by Jewish space lasers that gave him cancer. There is a long voting process involved to select the new leader of the Apple clan and dedicated followers wait patiently for a white air drop that signals the new clan leader has been chosen. As an additional fact John Apple's grandmother was from clan Wutang which has made this choice highly controversial.

Let me guess, the John Ternus guy is an AI bro and Apple products are now gonna be heavily enshitified with AI.

Edit: yep, I was right http://www.cnbc.com/amp/2026/04/20/apple-new-ceo-john-ternus-faces-defining-challenge-fixing-ai-strategy.html

Ternus is the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering and notoriously skeptical of new technology. If they wanted someone who was AI- minded, they would have made Craig Federighi CEO.

apparently he helped lead the team behind M-series chips and Airpods which are Apple’s few good genuine innovations of the last decade so he seems promising!

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Well, god damn it.

Where does it say he's an AI bro? It just said that he needs to show the investors that Apple can do more AI

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

Would they have chosen anyone else to lead the push for AI?

I for one am completely convinced that Tim Cook is "leaving" because he wasn't pushing AI as hard as the shareholders wanted. They think they're falling behind, which in a way they are (but that's a good thing IMO), and now they're experiencing FOMO, as shareholders do.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

I’m not sold on the idea that’s why Cook is leaving, but I’m with you that Apple may be slow playing the push into AI. If they are dragging their feet, I actually appreciate it.

[–] Alberat@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

what makes you think this?

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Everything fucking sucking?

[–] Alberat@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

but why does tim Cook not suck? because he left?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 44 points 8 hours ago (4 children)

article says Tim Cook and shows a picture of Tim Apple.

fucking amateurs.

I wish Craig Federighi was the replacement, he is obviously the most competent person at Apple right now, maybe ever save for Woz...

But I'm pretty sure he's not interested.

I can still remember the first time he had to do a presentation with Steve and he was shaking. Crazy how well trained everyone is for those presentations by now.
