/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Hear me out. A mutated self-cloned Weyoun who’s aided by Brunt (F.C.A.) since the dominion is made of money, but after they get the information Al wants to steal he reveals he was just a Q doing something over a childish dare. He’s only a lad. He’s Q’s son, Q. The chaos he always had in him, the limits he learned as a human. He’s still out of line in some ways, has minimal formal decorum, but respects living things and promotes love.

I'm all in.

"Captain' Log, Stargate 41219.6, The Enterprise and it's crew are en route to Al'apaloo'za III to attend a symposium on alternative alien musical techniques conveying language and culture. In the meantime, I must prepare for the opening banquet with Administrator Yankovic, whose reputation suggests he has rather odd food procilivites..."

First Officer's personal log: So much sauerkraut. Why must there be so much sauerkraut?

[–] GenesisClimber@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 weeks ago

"Captain's Log Supplemental, Doctor Crusher has examined and treated over 34 crew members and delegates who were subjected to food poisoning from some ancient delicacies called Twinkies. We are now searching for a Ferengi freighter that delivered them to determine if it was an accidental or deliberate act of sabotage on the symposium."

Oh god if Al Q and DeLancie Q ever meet, humanity has no chance. There will be provocation, provolone and polka. What’s worse? Just listing three attributes of a Q’s presence can feed their power. Everywhere, everywhen. After all, what appears after the letter P?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Wake up babe, new MLP slash fanfic just dropped.

Tap for spoilerJohn DeLancie and Weird Al both guest starred in My Little Pony, with DeLancie's character "Discord" being an expy of Q and Al's character "Cheese Sandwich" being a cameo of himself as a pony. Too bad they never appeared in the same episode, AFAIK.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Discord and cheese sandwich are basically the same deal, let’s be honest. They’re already sharing one universe we just need more.

It's a german episode titled Traumschiff Enterprise. It's a musical episode where Weird Al sings about life aboard a luxury space cruiser to the tunes of Seemann.

(Joke explanation for non-german speaking folks: the german word Traumschiff translates to dream ship in english an is only a letter away from Raumschiff - space ship.)

[–] TheFlopster@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I saw Seemann and thought for sure that link was going to be Rammstein. And then it wasn't! Here's Rammstein for the sake of completeness, lol.

Seemann

[–] CyberEgg@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I deliberately not chose Rammstein. They went FUBAR.

A few years ago, allegations of rape and sexual misconduct (including abusing positions of power, drugging victims and a casting-like systemisation) arose against bandmembers, associates like managers and Till Lindemann in particular. While no criminal behavior could be proven enough, the band's behaviour and conflict management was just... Appaling.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

Did he sing in german?

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It makes me so sad seeing pictures like this from before Madonna exacuted Wierd Al on live tv. He looks so happy here

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I must be going crazy -- this is just his manager, right? Al looks nothing like this guy!

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Al was really prolific in his day. A lot of his stuff seems recent but it's actually not.

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, it’s definitely his manager. You know, this suit Al is dealing with here:

Weird is an amazing movie. Definitely recommend it.

Weird New Worlds, duh.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

I need context for such a glorious collision of pop culture.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Was this at Fan Fest Nights last year? I remember (but lost my card to redeem my photo) there was a photo op with a fake bridge. The actual bridge from PIC was on the walking attraction, Red Alert.

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

This was apparently from 2013. I just added a few more pictures I found, but can't find details of where it's from. You can tell the background is a vinyl/canvas backdrop, so like a fan event or something.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No offence to Al, but i doubt he still looks that young today so 2013 seems like an accurate date.

[–] night_petal@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He does, but seeing him without the signature wig kind of ruins it. And I'm sorry to inform you that it is a wig.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you have a source for that? The breif research I've done says its his real hair.

[–] night_petal@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

OK, you are correct. I conflated what must have been a photoshop with reality. Mea culpa.

[–] _NetNomad@fedia.io 6 points 3 weeks ago

to explore weird new als...
