But I was told you can't vote your way out of authoritarianism by internet chuds who have no plans on fighting.

Hungary isn't out of authoritarianism any more than america was from 2020-2024 and Magyar is even more racist than Biden and thats a high bar.

The electoral college makes that extremely difficult.

[–] Goferking0@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes and no. It was actually designed to keep trump like people out but that got thrown out the window cause it's just there to help ~~republicans~~ land win.

Of course considering we're at the point in the usa where there's no chance of any amendments being passed also impossible to remove

I've seen pretty compelling arguments in the past that a big incentive for the electoral college is race and class (shocker, I know).

A quick Google search has a lot of discussion on the matter.

But either way, no one at the time of writing could predict the level of connectedness of modern life, nor how entire industries are dominated by people trying to sway public opinion.

They want. to prove you wrong by not voting.

There's definitely a point where you can't. The analysis I've read was that if Orban won this election, it would have been the last election.

Now, there's still hope for the USA, and of course we should hope for the best, but it would be irresponsible to not prepare for the worst.

Our leaders are so completely compromised by the ruling class. We have got so much work to do to tackle this issue. The New Deal didn't go far enough, someone more radical than FDR is needed. I have my doubts that electoralism will be sufficient.

Organize, protest and elect. Emphasis on organize and protest.

  1. Get as involved as you can with activist efforts locally.
  2. Organize, network, focus on building solidarity. Join or form a union. Join the IWW.
  3. Vote at primaries and elections for the best candidate, even if you doubt they can win.
  4. Don't punch down.
  5. Don't punch left.
  6. Educate yourself, politically.
  7. Push for voting reform and for anything that breaks the two-party system

Kill more billionaires and turn billionaire corpses into fertilizers. Cannibalism is cringe

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 3 points 3 days ago

The thing is, billionaires are a symptom of a larger problem. Of course, to alleviate our suffering, the treatment of symptoms is necessary, but we also need to address the root cause of the problem: unjustified hierarchies, the centralization of power, and capitalism itself.

Does "don't punch left" mean you can punch anyone slightly to your right?

If not, what if you paint everyone to your right as Nazis and Nazi sympathizers?

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

No, it means you centralise before you swing. That requires some empathy.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It means that the focus of our criticism should be against the right, rather than those on the left.

It is an encouragement for those on the left to put aside our disagreements about how we can reach the better future we are all fighting for, and instead fight those who want to silence and oppress us, and those who put the interests of the ruling class before the needs of the working class.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's going to fail immediately when the far left continue to portray "mainstream" Democrats as center-right and pro-fascism.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What do you mean? By "mainstream Democrats" we mean people like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, they're more unpopular than ever with their own base, and they very clearly put the interests of the ruling class before the needs of the working class. They are right wingers who support Israel's genocide, they're not anti-war, they don't support Medicare-for-All. They've got to go, 100%.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That fell apart in under 5 minutes.

"HOW DARE U CRITICIZE RIGHT WING DEMOCRATS"

Let's get you to bed, grandpa.

[–] Goferking0@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 days ago

Let's get you to bed, grandpa.

But all they want to do is be able to deflect any and all blame from a party that is happy to implement republican ideas and policies!

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 0 points 2 days ago

Get off my lawn.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 days ago

Magyar given his racism and corruption is also "illiberal if that means anything".
