I read a blog post decades ago by a woman who advocated for orgasm as a method of pain control during childbirth. She asked her husband to get her off when their child was being born, but he wasn't comfortable with it, so she did it herself. She didn't seem to understand why her husband and the midwife were uncomfortable watching her.
As I neared transition, near the end of labor, I was feeling very vulnerable and stressed-out; I went into the shower to find some relief, and my husband asked if I would like to have sex.
Husband has bigger balls than me asking at that time, and I'm known to ask my wife this multiple times a day.
Asking your wife for anal while her vagina is actively being torn apart from the inside is definitely crazy.

I'm glad the author prefaces that saying that experts don't support unassisted births. Of course people have been having unassisted births for millennia with the majority being normal. But we used to have much higher infant mortality rates compared to what modern people would deem acceptable.
Personally, I'd have a dead baby and probably would be a widower if my wife hadn't given birth in a hospital.
Yeah, giving birth at home is one of the most dangerous activities a woman can undertake.

I mean yeah that is but it's also not the point of the article
The theory is there and it seems to make sense biomechanically, now we need more studies on women doing this during birth and see if it results in less labour, pain and/or interventions.
