Hello interlopers of Lemmy!

This is a community for people to discuss, ask questions and show their appreciation to Hello Game's No Man's Sky.

As my experience with Lemmy is in it's infancy and my experience in managing a community in general is bar none, please do give me some leeway as I get my footing. But for general rules...

Also, as this is a budding experience for me, I am fully open to suggestions and/or constructive criticism when it comes to running a community.

Also also, I use Jerboa for Lemmy which doesn't seem to have notifications, and I also won't be around 24/7 to see what's happening, so expect slow or long waits between my interactions.

This is already shaping up to a big year for No Man’s Sky, as we celebrate our tenth anniversary year!

Even we struggle to know how we pulled off so many large updates in 2025. 2026 is building steadily on that momentum. Our small team is excited to share our latest update…

Our new update is called XENO ARENA and it's pretty wild! Xeno Arena lets you raise, train and battle the alien creatures found across the universe. Most of the planets you’ve visited in your travels have always been teeming with wildlife - and now, for the first time, those creatures are not just your companions, but your squad and maybe your champions!

I never would have imagined we would be getting Pokemon in NMS.

Kind of neat about Iteration: Oceanus, I've got a feeling they will be expanding on adding more types of mini games with this new NPC.

The timing of this update is funny, as soon as Nintendo lost their patent for 'summoning a non playable player to fight for you', this drops. Ever Sean's been holding onto this one for a while, or Hello Games are on the booger sugar and absolutely speed running dev time.

I personally think the two have nothing to do with one another. Other games have had pet battles for years (wow added them in 2012), but not all of them tried to emulate the look of Pokemon like pal world did.
