Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

It would seem like different nations are trying to find a sort of modus operandi to somewhat use the shipping lane again. Let's see how long it takes for the US Navy to be used to keep it closed for everyone.
That would actually be massive escalation in more than the obvious ways. Gulf states are the ones buying up most US debt (which is piling up extremely quickly). This is a large part of their leverage to secure continues US military protection. Should the US Navy be used to block the straight to enforce some kind of all-or-nothing approach, it's going to be cause a lot of knock on effects in the bond market. We do be living in interesting times!

Question is whether they paid or not.
Modern cargo carriers are sized upwards of 2 million barrels. If you can reduce the oil price to back where it was before the war started, there is a looot of money you can pay Iran to grease the wheels of the Strait. And we know from other ships they demand about $2M per vessel, totally worth it.
It's going to be an increasing problem for the United States. Since they refused to reopen the Strait, the Iranians control it de facto. Which means any hostile act by the United States against Iran turns into an expensive price hike for countries around the world.
That is absolutely a great way to turn allies into enemies.
Dont know for others, but concerning France they have mobilised their military navy there, pretty sure that Iran was not willing to engage war with another country and therefore agreed to let France go freely.

How funny would it be if Iran allowed literally everyone except US
I am not sure the US even has any commercial ships there? The effect on oil prices in the US has been indirect, thought the globalized oil market.
I would be surprised if nobody American owned oil tankers, just because it's such a big economy.
