The Satanic Temple

I noticed there wasn't a TST Lemmy community. The Satanic Temple is a modern satanic religion that aims to promote human rights and compassion. Check out their about page on their official website at https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/about-us. Note that this community is not an official affiliation. TST is also separate and not affiliated with the Church of Satan, who have a slightly different viewpoint of what satanism truly is. Dunno what to post in here, but maybe some will search for this and take part. Hello!

Upper caption: I don't generally read articles featured on Lemmy.

Lower caption: But when I do, they're articles about The Satanic Temple. They're awesome.

A man intentionally crashed his car into the Oklahoma 10 Commandments, and politicians immediately took that as an opportunity to blame Satanists. The man was schizophrenic and would later appear in court wearing a t-shirt quoting Ephesians 6:11: “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” He claimed that the Devil had made him do it, but he was clear that he was a God-fearing Christian who felt that a 10 Commandments display imposed by the state was idolatry. No matter. It was convenient to attempt to blame us.

Lordy, this is good.

I'm also somehow reminded of the habit of MAGA people shooting MAGA influencers/politicians.

That's because maga is less a political movement and more akin to a mental illness or mass hysteria.

Excellent. Now get this in every state/school that has the 10 commandments up anywhere funded by taxes.

What would have been interesting is if they could make the car accident ruining the Ten Commandments actually be a form of First Amendment expression.

That would be terrible. We already have a problem with people vandalizing Satanic monuments and displays.

Also, that would open the door to make any kind of vandalism legal.

Freedom of expression via violence, much like Trump.
