Sorry I was out but when did kirk become a verb ? I hope this is not copyrighted because it's as dark as brilliant

[–] brillotti@lemmy.world 51 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Gotta love the zoomers for their sense of humor.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 11 points 3 weeks ago

OH THAT KIRK!

[–] Newsteinleo@infosec.pub 35 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It took me a moment to get it. At first I thought this was a reference to captain Kirk saying Sora died like a red shirt. The I was like oh yeah there was that forgettable man named Kirk that die.

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

never did people pay as much attention to this guy as immediately after his death

[–] Newsteinleo@infosec.pub 2 points 3 weeks ago

I am pretty sure the guy had some ment illness going on. I watched some videos after he died and he sounded like the guys at the group home I used to work at.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I saw him, thought "asshole" and switched to something else.

[–] oozynozh@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

this one's a little more rare but it's kind of like how "trumped up" has evolved from meaning "fraudulent" (e.g. "trumped up allegations") to also include "botched via arrogance and/or incompetence" (e.g. "Donnie really trumped up that hundred year alliance with one lazy tweet")

[–] Todd_cross@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago

Oh! Charlie, not Captain. This makes a lot more sense.

[–] Una@europe.pub 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Lowkirkenuinely after kirky got kirked in the neck people started making memes about him.

[–] JayGray91@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

Hoo boy my ESL brain is short circuiting trying to read that first word.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago

Reading this makes me feel like I'm having a stroke

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Please no

That human shit stain deserves to be forgotten as quickly as possible

He died the way he lived, being a human shitpost. Imagine your last words being a dog whistle "counting or not counting gang violence"

[–] ramasses@social.ozymandias.club 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I also heard it as metaphor for a blowjob, kirked- shot in the neck- getting neck

[–] __Lost__@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

Hmm, never had a side of the neck blowjob

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 32 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is sora what was used to create the AI narrator for my company’s training videos this last year? Good god they looked terrible, why even bother, just have the voice over top of the slide graphics

[–] Quibblekrust@thelemmy.club 1 points 3 weeks ago

There are all kinds of AI avatar narrators.

[–] Francislewwis@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago

Sora getting Kirked is the funniest way to describe that energy 😭

As someone without an internal monologue and aphantasia I can confidentially say that this person is talking bullshit

Edit: The commenter not OOP

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 61 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (3 children)

As someone who also lacks internal monologue I'm grateful I have other higher brain functions that allowed me to identify comedic hyperbole and not get offended over nonsensical jokes.

[–] BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

As someone who has internal monologue: offensive language is subjective. Those are discriminate statements about someone's physical characteristics that are outside of their control. Similar statements about gender of skin color would be looked down on.

[–] _druid@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 weeks ago

As someone with an internal monologue, but not sure it's mine, the whispers are getting louder, and they're starting to make convincing points.

[–] Micromot@piefed.social -1 points 3 weeks ago

It's also pretty insulting for something that might have just been me understanding something wrong, having nothing to do with brain function

[–] Micromot@piefed.social 0 points 3 weeks ago

Which person are we talking about, the first or the second?

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone -4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Nah, it's ableist bullshit and shouldn't be normalized

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is not having an internal monologue a disability?

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 3 weeks ago

It's an ability that some people don't have, and referring to people without that ability as if they're stupid is pretty balatantly problematic

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

The inside of your mind must be very peaceful...

Main charcater of kingdom hearts

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think that's related

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

Who knows, scholars are still trying to understand the story of that franchise

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

An AI generator thing that was backed by Disney. Disney pulled out and sora went under.

[–] Doublenut@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I could be wrong but I think you have that backwards.

It was an AI video generator from openAI backed by Disney but open AI decided to shutter it (we can discuss why, ie the reasons they gave and the real reason but thats not this comment) which caused Disney to pull support for openAI being that video creation is what they were after.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

They announced a deal at the time but it was mostly just pr, no money changed hands yet and now it will just be nothing happened ever.

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago

oh, that makes sense - thanks!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sora_(text-to-video_model)

looks like it makes AI-generated videos from text prompts

Wonder if the feds will prevent investigations like they did with Charlie
