To me the darker separators clearly say they are just for visually dividing the different elements. The lighter ones look like they can be interacted with (maybe they can?) but also are more easily confused with scrollbars, especially when right next to actual ones.

Btw I've deepened the contrast as a whole based on your feedback - both in this and the PrintroomExpertSuperflat theme - and am happier with them.
Hi ! since the lighter grey is used throughout to convey information : typeface, icons, scopes, etc. I would use the darker grey for anything that's not information, ie that shouldn't compete for attention.
All that being said I am looking at it from my phone right now, but I'll have a look from my proart monitor
