Eehhh not really crts can go up to 400+ dollars with shipping included . I sell crts and I have people asking about my crts in my VHS posting and I have to put them on a list.

I sold my past crt for 120$ and the next one I sell will probably be 150$ simple because I go months without getting a cry and they sell in weeks

no fucking way. I need one

If it works, it's probably priced about right. CRT value going crazy with people trying to save them for retro gaming. And this one's transparent, extra cool points.

Closer to Atomic Purple than most other CRTs!

I know a retro gamer, and yeah, they'd snap this up. Easier, and safer, than cruising the streets on garbage day looking for one.

Yea someone could go to town with custom led lighting.

How dare everyone have nostalgia at the same time as me :(

I luckily held onto a couple CRT TVs. Sadly no pc monitors though. At one point I had like 5. Psycho family member burned all my PCs a few years ago. Can't find a single PC CRT for under $400 now. And can't ship em either...sad

Anyone who comments starting with "just" is quite annoying.

"Just have them build more CRTs bro"

That said, yes, they are very repairable !

Just comments are always superior to unjust comments.

;-)

(hmm, I haven't disproven the point at all, though, have I? hehe)

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 16 hours ago

ohh ya got me

In what country?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago

No way dude. That's a very unique, cool, working piece of technology. I would think any working CRT monitor is going to fetch a premium, let alone with such a cool aesthetic and history.

If I had throw-away money, and ran some kind of hacker/ maker space, I would TOTALLY buy something like that just because it looks cool.

First time I've seen a CRT with a bubble butt

Looks like that listing is gone now. Here's a few others.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Damn I wanted the weird looking one

[–] Soapbox@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Nah, That thing looks cool as hell. I would consider paying that much for it. Its probably a pretty decent price in the current CRT market.

That's probably close to how much the prisoner paid for it.

[–] Quantumantics@fedia.io 2 points 23 hours ago

On the one hand that's a rad TV, but on the other that tube looks badly worn out. If you could get a compatible tube that's in good shape, then $160 isn't bad at all for something so different from your usual black plastic boxes.

The best CRT i never knew about till now, would pay 500 if i could afford that.
