Been doing this for years. If there's stubborn protein, just sprinkle some dishwashing powder in the pan with water. The enzymes eat away at the food.

If you use regular soap, like dawn or similar, it works to clean, but it doesn't have the same stuff to really break down food.

Don't waste a whole dishwasher pod, or use too much. Just hot water, a little powder, and time.
