The NYT, The Economist, almost any MSM really.

The Economist's article on tariff refunds was fun

Wapo is a good call, I immediately assumed this was an NYT call-out though lol

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

WAPO is dead. NYT is furiously giving hand jobs to whoever is promising not to kill them.

If you look at NYT historically, they have always kinda had the hots for fascist shit. They try to act like they lean left, but they've always given a suspicious amount of leniency to the hard right.

David Brooks has been writing opinion pieces for them for ages, and he's the biggest apologist for fascists I'm aware of. He pretends so hard that he's a pragmatic centrist, but his real message is always just that we should all just behave while the rich rob us blind, which they are morally correct to do.

His stuff almost comes across as satire, the few times I've come upon it.

Interesting... who do I talk to at the NYT for the free handjobs?

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

That depends… how much money do you have? They’re not free.

More like "by the paid stooge of some rich asshole". The rich assholes do involve themselves more with the public than they used to on account of social media, but that kind of opinion piece would be written by someone who is not themselves a rich asshole, but who beneifts directly from them.

[–] qupada@fedia.io 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That, or the aspiring rich arsehole.

Not even a beneficiary, just a grossly misguided individual who hasn't yet realised that will, in fact, not be them some day.

[–] ZJBlank@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Ah yes, the temporarily embarrassed billionaire

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

"Grok, write me a propaganda piece for my substack."

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

It's only very recently that, with the rise of social networking, the greater public has had the opportunity to really get to know rich assholes like Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

And one of the things we've been able to learn from interacting with them is that they are definitely not better than other people.

Rich people have been portrayed as being well-educated. But it turns out that they paid for their diplomas and so they're probably dumber than average. Far dumber in the cases of Trump and Musk.

Rich people have sometimes been portrayed as hard workers who deserve their riches. But it turns out that they don't do shit except party with pedophiles.

Just like you said, they just pay some stooges to do their work for them. Rich people are nothing but leeches.
