As a southern refugee living in the PNW, I say this all the time at work. It’s the best gender neutral way to address a group.

And for the dismount as you leave:

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 32 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There was discussion about what the NYC subway announcements should say instead of "ladies and gentlemen".

My vote was "listen up you little shits, [this train is going express until canal Street or whatever]"

I think they went with "everyone", however.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

Another choice would be "Hey! We're drivin' heah!"

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I like the preantepenultimate one, and I'm not just saying that to use the word.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

That would 100% be a legitimate enough reason, though 😁

"preantepenultimate [...], and I'm not just saying that to use the word."

Whatever your reasons, I'm glad you used that word, because it's a damn good word and I'm putting it on my list of good words (a silly project that I've had for a few years now)

Hi everybody! But only ever in Dr. Nick’s voice.

How are you? Fine, thank you.

Ohmygah!

Hello everynyan

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 23 points 2 weeks ago

I like J Kenji Lopze-Alt's "Guys, Gals, and non-binary pals" for inclusivity and being not overly-formal. Then again, I'm a cishet guy so feel free to point out any flaws I may not see.

HI DR. NICK!

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In undergrad I had an O-Chem Prof, from England, who would start each class by gathering our collective attention with, "Oi, You Lot!". Awesome and Epic

"Hey ladies, hey fellas, and the people that don't give a FUCK" - inclusive king Fred Durst

In not going to say Limp Bizkit sucks, you know it, I know it, I'm not going to say it.

Alright everybody, be cool, this is a robbery.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Girls gays and theys isn't trying to be inclusive at all though?

It's basically a way to say "anyone that isn't a straight man"

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

perfectly inclusive, only excludes non cunts, and who wants to speak to them?

[–] hedge_lord@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

"Attention Bajoran workers"

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Now I'm remembering the smell of K-Mart: A mix of rancid popcorn oil and cigarettes.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

And piss, don't forget the piss.

And when addressing an individual instead of the crowd:

"You there! No, not you, the other one!"

[–] princess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

"Attention, duelists!" <- my hair

[–] captain_oni@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

"Hey bitches, and bros and non-binary hoes!"

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

“Hey y’all!”

Texas may have more (far, far more) than it’s fair share of problems, but y’all is gender neutral and works both as singular and plural.

"Sup motherfuckers"

[–] HexesofVexes@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Hello folks! - informally archaic

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I prefer Jan Böhmermann's version:

Meine Damen und Herren und alle dazwischen und außerhalb

(Ladies and gentlemen and all in between and beyond)

[–] Nima@leminal.space 3 points 2 weeks ago

"Alright, chat!"

[–] Klear@quokk.au 3 points 2 weeks ago

Hey ladies, fellas and everyone between

[–] archonet@lemy.lol 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I've always been partial to "ladies, boys, and ladyboys..." myself.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Friends, enemies, and frenemies

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago
