To be fair the new Ford sucks in the US (as far as I know) they discontinued the fiesta (even in the EU) and the Focus in the US. What decent models are even still in production? The gas-guzzler trucks people buy to drive their kids to kindergarten? (This isn't my stereotype about the US, I see this in Ljubljana)

The only passenger car that Ford makes any more is the Mustang, which is a muscle car.
The US auto industry has been having issues competing starting in the 70's with the gas crisis.
Wall Street demands immediate returns, so Ford has to sell what makes the most profit the fastest. There's a future or there waiting, but fuck all that shit. Pay them now.
You can’t fix stupid.
Both are shit. The Lightning sucked, that was a doomed venture for Ford. But Kentucky voters put Trump in office to punish trans and brown people. They'll never blame him for anything.
I thought they were selling out of them. How did it fail?
They did have some production issues, but I never heard of them running out. Sluggish sales were due to the high price.
If I have my timelines correct they killed the factory after Trump got elected. Whether that's cause he would kill funding for electrification or cause he would increase subsidies for gas, it's hard to say, but either way Ford saw more money in gas than electric with Trump.
