But then when you tried to stay awake sitting on this:

Any time I get even remotely bored while needing to focus on the boring thing, I start falling asleep. I can’t help it, my brain just goes into power saving mode when it’s being forced into something completely unstimulating. I desperately wish I could harness this power, but even books about statistics or the history of the concept of zero are too interesting and will keep me up and engaged. It has to be genuine spontaneous boredom. Though the “sleep with me” podcast sometimes comes close because I can’t follow what he’s saying for more then a sentence or two at a time due to his speech patterns.
I got in trouble for falling asleep in class so frequently they made me stand in the back of the room to stay awake.
So that’s how I learned I could fall asleep standing up.. same exact nodding off behavior as while sitting.
Have you ever been diagnosed with ADHD?
Age 5, yes.
I know that’s why but explaining to other people is easier to just describe :)
Just wanted to make sure you weren't struggling without knowing about a potential cause.
It's fairly common for adults to break down crying after a diagnosis because they realize something is actually wrong and they're not just a lazy piece of shit.
Oh for sure, I appreciate the effort to help :)
I can't process this image
It's from Saw IV
School desk
Who designed it? MC Escher?
It’s literally a normal desk
Try to watch TV show I enjoy with no distractions
Nap time
Finally finish all my chores and have a moment to watch… and gone. Wake up at three in the morning. Not in bed. Get back to sleep just before the alarm. Sleep through alarm, late for work.
How about instead you are just suddenly falling?
When you were watching videos on your phone and dozing off, so you put down the phone and all of a sudden you're wide awake

Drug dealer: I have some magic sand, bro. Wanna try? Will sleep like a baby sealion.
As a person with a long history of intermittent insomnia, I had this bad feeling last night that I'd not be able to go to sleep no matter what.
So, I did what I normally do in those situations, which is probably not the right thing, by the way. I stayed up and tried to distract myself until I forgot about that thought. It usually eventually works, but last night, I couldn't seem to forget the thought, and at about 4:30 am, I was so tired that I thought I should be able to fall asleep, regardless.
And I did fall asleep, but I think it was around 6. In retrospect, I should have just taken some medicine at midnight.
what's the sandman
