90% of the initial reddit population were Digg refugees. There's nothing new or unexpected about user churn.

A very nice thing about the Forumverse is that our refugees can perfectly well be internal. If there is a reason to escape, it is your instance you're escaping, not the whole network! This feels like a very promising feature :)

I mean this scenario is purely hypothetical, it won’t happen and these of people won’t come.

The kind of person that’s hysterical enough to believe that Reddit would „ban pro-European subreddits” is also the kind of person that wouldn’t leave Twitter because they need their message of „Orange man bad” to reach as many people as possible, otherwise democracy will die.

The target population for Lemmy and Reddit is the same and most Lemmy servers have the requirement to be 16 or older while reddit only requires to be 13, so of course almost everyone will be a Reddit refugee
