it ain't as great as it sounds. The reason why I'm on such a high dose is because for 15 or so years, I didn't sleep very much at all. Nothing they tried worked. I was literally sleeping 3-4 hours a WEEK. it was intense. I'm pretty sure, among other reasons, why I'm so much an idiot is because i got some serious brain damage from not sleeping for so long.
anyway, sleeping 14-16 hours a day ain't great. I was literally sleeping my life away. I was sleeping more than half of my day.
I dont think that's an autie or ADHD thing to the point that all of us feel that life is pointless. Many folks do need to find their own meaning to life though
Depression has many causes and is influenced by many things. The medication you are on is quite heavy if you don't need to treat bipolar or schizophrenia. I say this as someone who doesn't have either but absolutely loved how much of the world I can ignore on seroquel: life might be more meaningful on a different medication
I am not a doctor, first off, but I just wanted to check whether your doc is treating you for just depression, or whether it's bipolar or schizoaffective?
If just depression, olanzapine (an antipsychotic) seems like serious overkill. It comes with a ton of side effects like lethargy, increased appetite, weight gain, and a risk of developing metabolic syndrome. Maybe discuss this with your doc, and see if there are alternative treatments to try to help with your mood and sleep separately?
Just a thought. My nephew got put on antipsychotics inappropriately once, and there are just a lot of docs out there who are bad at this, so it's important to speak up for yourself if you feel like something isn't right
I'm mostly on the olanzapine for both depression (doesn't necessarily seem like it's helping with that though) and sleep. When I don't take my olanzapine, I sleep 3-4 hours a WEEK. I can't NOT have olanzapine or something else for sleep.
the reason i ask if it's an autie/adhd thing, because I am dx'd with ASD and going through the tribulations of being dx'd with ADHD.
