Because commercially produced lesbian porn is targeted strictly at straight dudes who think it's gay to see another man's dick.

Also because people fuck up the tags 99% of the time

Sometimes I want to look at two ladies

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Me too, but I really don't want dudes to show up in my gay porn

This post made me think “if there’s lesbian porn for the male gaze, is there gay porn for the female gaze?”

Welcome to the wonderful world of yaoi

for straight women it's just the regular dude on dude gay porn. for some gay women, too.

Yeah absolutely, look at fujoshis and what they're into

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean, me too, but that's beside the point

https://www.intomore.com/culture/surprise-lesbian-porn-tops-the-pornhub-charts-and-women-are-the-ones-watching/

Women watch more lesbian porn then men (as a proportion of their total porn consumption). And women apparently make up 37% of the viewership on pornhub so that's a very significant amount of lesbian porn viewership, if not an outright majority.

It's not 1960 anymore

Had a high school classmate who was "so totally not gay" he'd only watch lesbian porn so there's no dick in it.

Guess who hit my (faceless) Grindr profile up a few years after graduation for a DL hookup where he wanted to try bottoming?

[–] CarnivorousCouch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

I had a classmate who expressed the same porn preference, although they weren't obnoxious about it, just casually mentioned it once. I remember being flabbergasted by the idea at the time, thinking that seemed like some pretty weak masculinity. Well, she came out as a trans lesbian a good few years after we graduated, and I realized I was bisexual somewhere in the same period. I guess we both figured out what we liked eventually 🤷‍♂️

I can think of only like 3 instances a porn side has ever had good tagging.

Ones a furry site, ones a week site and the last is a brony site.

Sfw or NSFW, doesn't matter. People can't fucking tag.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm in that boat, but not in an overly-defensive-hetero look-how-gay-im-not way, its just that I can have basically any combination of ingredients I want, why would I opt for dick

I don't know. I usually either find myself identifying with at least one of the performers in some way or losing interest. I figured most people would do the same, and therefore cishet dudes would want porn with atleast some dick in it.

Gay man so deep in the closet he lives in Narnia: "Why is everything so gay?!"

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Porn terminology is from point of view of men. There are women in it = it's straight. Woman jilling = straight. Dude jacking off = gay.

[–] GnerphBaht@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Most final shots are self induced even so far as to remove the woman's hand. Does that then make it gay?

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Good point. Those money shots confuse me too. As in who likes seeing them, why are they pretty much the standard?

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

Because "straight porn" means "made for straight men porn".

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be fair you also see man on man bisexual porn in the straight section because "it's not gay in a three-way" rule.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Do you? I almost exclusively saw it in the gay section for some weird reason.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 6 points 1 week ago

xHamster built different methinks

[–] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've seen MMF threesomes in straight sections, but the dudes never really interact with each other. They mostly just take turns on the girl. Anytime the dudes interact it goes to the gay section in my experience.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago

Those are not MMF threesomes then but MFM.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 week ago

Maybe the vast majority of 'lesbian' porn is made for straight men. (as is pretty much everything in the world)
