At least one good thing is coming out of it. More companies should be spending money on the python foundation.

Exactly this - if a corporation uses Python we should expect them to fund the PSF in someway, not balk at it when they do.

Also, if we had a functional US government, a corporation wouldn't have needed to pick up the slack.

and the entire ecosystem of packages which needs to be maintained.

Unless you think that is done by magic fairy elves
