Looking for the best bluetooth adapter with Linux (Mint) compatibility..I got one now but it seems to have cutting out issues and doesn't work well with some stuff (like a PS4 controller).

Or maybe it's just Linux bluetooth being terrible as usual? Has anyone had luck with different dongles? (No scamazon links please)

I use one of these with a gaming desktop pc that lives behind my living room TV, it works perfectly for a headset and 8bitdo controller at the same time. Pc runs bazzite these days but has also run Ubuntu and Mint previously with zero issues. Hope that's the sort of info you were looking for.

I did some research a couple years back and landed on this adapter by ASUS. It's been perfect for years

Consider replacing the WiFi card (which also likely does your BT). You’ll get a nice upgrade to your WiFi in the process.

Woops forgot to clarify this is a desktop

Same can apply, the board can have WiFi, or you can get a card. I had BT issues with an older Logitech mouse I had to install a different Bluetooth package. I forget which one now

Yeah. My desktop mobo has a WiFi chip plugged into a little PCIe port. It does the Bluetooth too, and you can replace it.

I bring this up because Bluetooth on a new WiFi card is likely to be better Bluetooth than a cheap dongle, and there’s a chance your setup doesn’t like the WiFi either if it doesn’t like the Bluetooth.

Assuming your problem is not simply distance/interference between antennas, it could be due to the chip in your bluetooth adapter. My DualShock 4 v2 works well with both my external dongle and my motherboard's BT, but other people have not been so lucky.

I have seen these chips work:

Here are some reports from several years ago: (You might want to add your adapter to the list as a bad one.)

So, if you try different adapters, I think you'll eventually find one that works.

I got one now

I have one now. ;)

Good luck!

Appreciate it! My mobo has no wifi either so it shouldn't be interfering..

My bluetooth audio has been cutting out now as well so I really think the dangle succs, not so much linux fault
